Seagate 1 Terabyte hard drives in the Indian market

Hard Disk industry giant Seagate has now announced the launch of their 1 Terabyte=1024 gigabytes capacity hard drives in the Indian market.

Targeting mobile users, home users, and the corporate segment, the new range of products comprises Maxtor One Touch4 Plus, OneTouch4 Mini, and OneTouch4; and Barracuda 7200.11 and ES.2.Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 and Barracuda ES.2 hard disks come with Seagate’s five-year limited warranty.

The entire Maxtor family incorporates Maxtor Safety Drill, a solution for disaster recovery, which is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and the Mac operating system. It packs one-touch synchronization and password encryption.

The Barracuda 7200.11 and ES.2 deliver 7,200 rpm spin speeds, average seek times of 8.5 milliseconds, and caches up to 32 MB. The drives pack 1 TB of data on four disks to provide cool operating temperatures and low power consumption.

The Barracuda ES.2 is a newly designed hard drive featuring the new RVFF (Rotational Vibration Feed Forward) system, designed to sustain performance in densely-packed multi-drive systems. The drive also incorporates the new PowerTrim technology, which manages drive power consumption at all levels of activity.

The 1 TB Barracuda 7200.11 is the 11th generation in the Barracuda 7200 series. The drive offers a continuous transfer rate of 105 MBps, with a low power rating of 8 watts at idle. It also delivers industry-leading acoustics, as low as 2.7 Bels, which is nearly undetectable by the human ear.

The new Maxtor and Barracuda products will be available in mid-November through Supertron computers. The pricing for these products has not been revealed yet. However, the 1 TB Barracuda 7200.11 is expected to be priced close to Rs 16,000.

HTC P3300-GPS PHONE

HTC Corp. has announced the launch of the HTC P3300, a GPS (Global Positioning System) phone in India. "The P3300 GPS phone with photo navigation is an addition to existing portfolio of world class smartphones and PDAs available in India under the HTC brand,"
This device allows users to take pictures outdoors and then automatically embeds the satellite coordinates into the picture.
The MapKing R12 is the mobile mapping system, which comes with the P3300. It also includes the SiRF III chipset with 20 parallel channel receivers as well as wireless LAN access. The phone is also equipped with a 2-megapixel camera and FM radio.
The phone weighs 128 grams, is 16.8 mm thin and is available in an iron-grey colour. It operates on the Windows Mobile 6 professional platform and comes with a 128 MB built-in ROM and 64 MB RAM.

The BlackBerry 8820 is available with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone as the exclusive carrier, whereas the BlackBerry 8310 smartphone is available exclusively through the Vodafone network.

Both the BlackBerry 8820 and the BlackBerry 8310 smartphones are GPS capable, providing easy location searches to users.

The BlackBerry 8820 smartphone features voice and data mobile connectivity via EDGE and GPRS, Wi-Fi connectivity (broadband wireless) as well as a number of location-based applications.

Samsung is planing to bring dual SIM card mobile phones into mainstream in Europe with their Samsung DuoS D880 phone.
Samsung D880 DuoS slider can work with two SIM cards from different operators or support two phone numbers from the same operator.
The phone looks just like the classic ones coming from this handset producer, which is a good thing. The slider is stylish and elegant in a traditional way that does not hint at its impressive features. The only thing not to like, is the price - Samsung D880 DuoS is expected to cost around $700. But when you consider that you wonft have to carry two different phones in your pocket, the price tag doesnft look so bad anymore.

Nokia has identified that in very rare cases the affected batteries could potentially experience over heating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge. Nokia is working closely with relevant local authorities to investigate this situation.

Nokia has several suppliers for BL-5C batteries that have collectively produced more than 300 million BL-5C batteries. This advisory applies only to the 46 million batteries manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006. There have been approximately 100 incidents of over heating reported globally. No serious injuries or property damage have been reported.
